Little Bear Getaway Cabins is located at Mile 111.5 of the Glenn Highway, about two hours north of Anchorage. Hiking, wildlife photography, glacier tours, rafting, ziplining, helicopter tours, skiing, snowshoeing and Northern Lights viewing can all be found in the surrounding region.

Some guests stay for a peaceful weekend away. Others stop while traveling the scenic loop between Anchorage, Fairbanks and Valdez. However you arrive, the cabins are a welcoming base for exploring Matanuska Glacier and Alaska’s Matanuska Valley.

The Glenn Highway: One of Alaska’s Great Scenic Drives

The drive to Little Bear is part of the experience. From Anchorage, the Glenn Highway passes farmland, rivers, wetlands, high mountain peaks and sweeping views of the Matanuska River. Between Sutton and the cabins, the road winds through one of the most dramatic stretches of highway in Alaska.

Driving Directions

From Anchorage: Take the Glenn Highway through Palmer and Sutton. About an hour beyond Palmer, watch at Mile 111.5 for the Little Bear Getaway Cabins sign on the right and a short driveway leading uphill.

From Fairbanks: Follow the Richardson Highway south to Glennallen. At the Glenn Highway junction, travel west toward the cabins.
